  1. 01

Make Important Content Available to AI Crawlers in HTML

    Source score

    66.67 / 100

    4 independent sources

Crawler capabilities vary: content revealed only after JavaScript runs or a user clicks may be missed, so expose key material in the initial HTML rather than assuming every relevant bot can render it.

    What to do

    1. Goodie recommends: put important facts directly in HTML instead of placing them in images, PDFs, expandable tabs, or scripts that may not render.
    2. Seokratie recommends: if individual elements such as prices or tabs load only after interaction, put that content directly in HTML; if the whole page is a JavaScript application, use server-side rendering or pre-generated static pages.
    3. Goodie recommends checking that agents such as GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended are not blocked in robots.txt unless you intend to block them.

    GEO Takeaway

Bots that cannot run scripts or click to reveal content may never see it, and pages with technical issues that prevent indexing will not be synthesized into AI answers.

    Publish Original, Well-Supported Information

    Source score

    66.67 / 100

    4 independent sources

Ground page claims in attributable evidence and make the information something that is not already widely available.

    What to do

    1. Add specific, attributable, well-supported original information instead of relying on broad marketing claims or material that repeats what is widely available.

    GEO Takeaway

Original research, hands-on testing, and first-party product facts are material only you can publish, while ChatGPT may be more likely to cite an original source than a page that mainly summarizes it.

Track AI Mentions, Citations, and Brand Sentiment

    Source score

    60.00 / 100

    3 independent sources

Use buyer-relevant prompts to record which brands appear, which sources AI cites, and whether it describes your company accurately; compare your appearances with competitors across a defined prompt set.

    What to do

    1. Run buyer-relevant queries across relevant AI engines and record which brands are mentioned, which sources are cited, and whether your company information is accurate.
    2. Compare your brand’s appearances with competitors across a defined set of prompts.

    GEO Takeaway

AI-specific visibility and portrayal measures reveal dimensions that impressions, rankings, and sessions alone do not show.

  4. 04

Check AI crawler access to important pages

    Source score

    60.00 / 100

    3 independent sources

Use per-bot access checks and compare bot-visible content with the human view to find fetch failures or content bots cannot see.

    What to do

    1. For key URLs, check AI bots’ robots.txt rules and live HTTP status to identify blocked access.
    2. Compare what bots see on your site with what a human sees, and note content missing from the bot view.
    3. Track AI crawler activity and investigate fetch errors or blocked important pages.

    GEO Takeaway

Content that appears only after scripts, hydration, or a “load more” action may never be seen by bots, so comparing views can reveal missing content.

Bot View, within Profound Pages, shows what bots see when they come to your site versus what a human sees. Once you know what content is missing, you can turn on Dynamic Bot Rendering.

Most AI bots go to your site and fetch the initial HTML response. They have no browser engine to run a script, no rendering step to hydrate a component, and no way to click "load more." If your content only appears behind one of these steps, bots never see it.

Monitor AI-response visibility and competitor movement

    Source score

    60.00 / 100

    3 independent sources

Use recurring checks to see whether your brand’s presence in AI responses changes and how competitors appear; model updates may shift observed patterns.

    What to do

    1. Check your brand’s presence in fan-out queries and AI responses regularly, since these patterns may shift with model updates.
    2. OtterlyAI recommends running its competitive prompt weekly to compare share of voice, brand coverage, and NSS per competitor; ask for a delta against the prior period if you want that comparison included.

    GEO Takeaway

Recurring checks can help reveal changes sooner than waiting months, while model updates may shift the patterns being monitored.

Track AI citations in recurring visibility reviews

    Source score

    50.00 / 100

    2 independent sources

A recurring review can capture citation data alongside wider AI-visibility measures; when sites account for much of your visibility, monitor how often ChatGPT cites them for your topics.

    What to do

    1. Include citations in a recurring AI-visibility review; Profound's example pulls the week's visibility, citations, and sentiment every Monday.
    2. When much of your AI visibility comes through particular sites, follow Ahrefs' advice to monitor how often ChatGPT cites them for your topics.

    GEO Takeaway

Ahrefs reports that these sites remained among ChatGPT's most-cited domains even as their share shrank fast, making citation changes worth watching when your visibility relies on them.

Trace AI Errors in Prices, Features, Availability and Policies

    Source score

    50.00 / 100

    2 independent sources

For wrong AI statements about pricing, features or availability, Profound recommends using source-of-truth documents to locate the pages cited by AI. Promptwatch links regular price-and-policy checks to finding the listing, guide or review page that needs correction.

    What to do

    1. For wrong AI statements about your pricing, features or availability, Profound recommends using source-of-truth documents as context to find cited pages, draft corrected content and plan outreach to third-party pages carrying the error.
    2. For price and policy prompts, Promptwatch recommends tracing wrong claims found during regular AI brand checks to the cited listing, guide or review page that needs correction.

    GEO Takeaway

Tracing an incorrect AI answer to its cited source identifies the specific listing, guide or review page that needs correction.

    Build Third-Party Brand Mentions

    Source score

    50.00 / 100

    2 independent sources

For Mittelstand businesses, Seokratie recommends working with trade media, associations, partners, distributors and customer references over months, rather than relying on press releases alone.

    What to do

    1. For Mittelstand businesses, Seokratie recommends working with trade media, associations, partners, distributors and customer references over months so the brand is mentioned alongside its topic.
    2. Goodie recommends prioritizing high-citation third-party sources in PR and building entity authority signals AI systems can verify.

Answer the Main Question and Its Sub-Questions

    Source score

    50.00 / 100

    2 independent sources

For Google AI Mode, Goodie recommends a comprehensive page with the primary question as H1 and related questions as H2/H3 headings, rather than a separate page for every variation.

    What to do

    1. Cover the primary question and its related sub-queries in one piece of content.
    2. For Google AI Mode, Goodie recommends using the primary question as H1 and related questions as H2s and H3s inside comprehensive pages, rather than creating a separate page for every variation.

    GEO Takeaway

Goodie explains that AI Mode builds its answer from related searches; covering the sub-questions addresses what that fan-out searches for.

Structure your content with a primary question as the H1 and related questions as H2s and H3s. Cover the sub-questions around your topic too, since AI Mode’s fan-out searches for them. Keep this inside strong, comprehensive pages: spinning up a separate page for every variation violates Google’s scaled content abuse policy.

When someone asks AI Mode a question, it splits that question into related searches and builds an answer from the results. In Google’s own example, a question about fixing a weedy lawn fans out into searches about herbicides, chemical-free removal, and prevention.

        Supporting quotes

When a user types a prompt into an LLM, the system uses a technique called query fan-out. It doesn't just run one search, it breaks the prompt down into hidden, related sub-queries and your content must anticipate this. By answering a primary question and addressing related sub-queries within the same piece of content, you remain the cited authority.

Support, with
the sources attached.

The Source Score reflects how many independent publishers support a recommendation, with more weight given to recent articles. Independence is counted by publisher domain: several articles from the same publisher count as one source.

We use a rolling window of one to four ISO weeks. Support from the edition’s week has full weight; articles one, two and three weeks older receive weights of 0.75, 0.50 and 0.25. All qualifying articles remain linked for context.

The calculation, in plain sight

Add the recency weights of the independent publishers to get weighted support W. The score is 100 × W / (W + 2), displayed to two decimal places.

We choose the shortest window with at least ten tips supported by two or more independent publishers; otherwise we use four weeks. Some tips may therefore have one supporting publisher. Article volume and assignment confidence add no score bonus.

A measure of publisher support, not a guarantee of results or a percentage of expert agreement. Equal displayed scores can occur; the saved ranking order is preserved.
